Chandigarh: Ramesh Chandra and 2 MDs of Unitech group are sentenced to 3 year imprisonment by the Chandigarh Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission for delaying possession of a plot buyer in Unitech’s Aspen Greens project in Sector 107, Uniworld, Mohali.
Amandeep Singh Kanwar and his wife Simmarpreet Randhawa did purchased a plot on March 17, 2011 for Rs. 66, 53,109 and according to the contract the possession date was 18 month from the purchased date.
When Unitech failed to give possession on time the duo approached the court, which directed Unitech to refund the amount with an interest of 15%. The commission also asked Unitech to pay compensation of Rs 3 lakh along with Rs 50,000 as cost of litigation.
Unitech failed to fulfill court’s order after which the court sentenced unitech’s Chairman and 2 MDs 3 year imprisonments.
